Most lovely place Very peaceful energy, homegrown and cooked food, most beautiful view onto the Dzong. Our favorite place in Bhutan, only 6 rooms. Best for relaxing, reading a book. Road up the mountain is little rough.

Best place in Punnakha We live in Thimphu and keep going back to Dhumra Farm Resort because it's such a magical place. It has the best views of the Punnakha Dzong. The rooms are big and modern with beautiful traditional decor. The food is outstanding. The service is friendly and fast. The owners are lovely people who live on-site and are intimately involved in the day-to-day running of the place. And it's small - only a handful of rooms - and very personal. Don't miss it.

The best hotel we stayed at in Bhutan We stayed at the Dhumra Farm Resort for 2 nights and it was hands down the best hotel we stayed at in Bhutan. The hotel was situated on top of a hill. The ride to the hotel was bumpy but it was worth it. The hotel ground was lovely. The view of the Punakha Dzong and Valley was stunning. The deluxe room we stayed in was very spacious and cozy. The bed was comfortable. The water pressure of the shower was strong and there was enough hot water. The Wi-Fi worked well. The hospitality of the staff was great. Everyone was welcoming and courteous. The meals were plenty and delicious. We particularly liked the salads.Do note that, though, there was no accommodation available for guides and drivers.

A quaint place at top of the hill I visited Dhumra farm resort in November end with my husband and 2 year old son. We travelled from Thimphu To Punakha. It’s around a 20 mins bumpy ride up the hill. The journey made us think twice of our choice as we were reaching the place. Well, but as soon as we reached we were welcome by a host of friendly girls staff into this spectacular resort ! It had a mesmerising view from every corner and felt like the perfect place to be. The 6 room resort is beautifully designed with everything just enough for your comfort and yet so simple! It has an amazing view of the punakha Dzong with lovely garden. The food prepared is still fresh in our minds ! Just like the place it was delicious and yet simple! Some of the produce came from the garden around and tasted super! The staff was helpful and kind. I am sure this place will be the next Big thing once the road to this hotel is in a better shape!

Beautiful location and a lovely host If you ever visit punakha, Dhumra Farm Resort is a place to stay (if you are lucky that is!). It's a quaint place with 6 cottages but a perfect location that over looks the exquisite Punakha Dzong. The most amazing part of the place is the hospitality and the food they serve. You really feel welcomed by the warmth of Ms.Rinzui, the owner and care taker of the place. I felt at home :). The most simply made work of flavors that look like an art of taste. Ma'am Rinzui, I so wish I had more time to spend there. Thanks for everything. Also, I would like to mention that the all girls staff out there shares Ms. Rinzui's warmth. Hope to come back some time back on that adventurous road again.

Truly a home away from home We came to Dhumra as guests, and left with warmth, friendship and lot of insights about Punakha and Bhutan. Here is why:The people: Sangay and Rinzin are making a home, not a 'guest house'. They both are incredible individuals with deep experiences, however they are very humble and generous with their time. Mr Sangay's book 'Seeing with the third eye' is a very accessible and beautifully written account of his experiences with Punakha, the Bhutanese culture and tradition. I personally looked forward to getting back to Dhumra early to be able to have conversations with both of them. The place: What stood out the most about Dhumra to me was how easily a wide range of people can access the farm house. It isn't gentrified unlike a lot of accomodations do (not just in Bhutan but everywhere). The space is representative of the thoughtfulness - rainwater harvesting, organic produce from the garden that makes it to the plate, very traditional Bhutanese elements coexisting with scandinavian minimalism in the rooms, etc. I personally spent hours sitting in the beautiful garden, looking at the Punakha Dzong while reading and sketching, sipping hot tea.The rooms: Rinzin has a keen eye for design and functionality which combined with the skills and expertise of traditional bhutanese craftsmen creates a beautiful synergy in the rooms. The Bhutanese architecture, minimal wooden interiors, Bhutanese textile used in the rooms, minimal and spacious bathrooms make it a delightful, restful and inspiring space. The food: During the booking process, Mr Sangay took our dietary preferences over email, and everyday they carefully curated delicious, fresh tasty menu for breakfast and dinner. I think my apetite increased everyday. I was also delighted by the attention to detail on simplest of things like table placements - on christmas, they made christmas trees out of table napkins. The staff: Everyone at Dhumra walks a line of attentiveness and privacy. You never get bothered but somehow the staff knows when you are arriving to farm, for breakfast, etc. so that they help with luggage, etc. Room service was impressively quick, very accepting of requests and very warm. Overall, very smart, attentive, warm and forthcoming staff that made us feel pampered.

A relaxing place with beautiful views A 3 star hotel that actually feels like 5 stars. Situated high up on top of a hill overlooking the beautiful Punakha Dzong and Punakha valley. The hotel only have 6 rooms on site and unfortunately there is no accommodation available for guides and drivers. The hotel have their own private garden that grow different variety of herbs, fruits and vegetables, with that the vegetables, fruits, jams that are served at dinner and breakfast are very fresh and delicious. The room is clean and spacious with good wifi. The owner Mrs Sangay is lovely to chat with, a shame that we only got to stay for 1 night, if we would have know how relaxing the hotel will be, we would have opt to stay for 2 or 3 nights. Highly recommend.
